Paul Harding & Juju Detective Agency

An interesting and feverish performance from Paul throwing out an avalanche of words ideas and visions of freehop.
Continuing this year’s Langston Hughes and Earshot jazz festival collaboration, spoken-word artist Paul Harding pursued truth with an arresting posse of Seattle jazzers that included saxophonist Eric Barber, multireedman Hans Teuber, pianist Stephen Fandrich, bassist Geoff Harper, trumpeter Gabriel C. Herbertson, and percussionist Mark Ostrowski.

They describe their sound as a “mix of free motown, post-hardbop, snakeskin Miles Davis, cubic
country, and versified funk while infamous spoken music poet Paul Harding mobilizes his MiddleVoice of song history and storytelling. We call it free hop.”
